As one of the UK’s youngest and most vibrant ballet companies, New English Ballet Theatre is synonymous with excellence, innovation, and inspiration. We are thrilled to be bringing an exciting programme of ballets to the Thameside Theatre this July. The company is proud to present a brand-new ballet choreographed by Jenna Lee to Max Richter’s re-composition of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. The programme also includes two of our ballets taken from our critically acclaimed performance at London’s Peacock Theatre in November 2016, ‘Enticement’s Lure’ by Valentino Zuchetti and ‘Vertex’ by Daniela Cardim.

Artist, Hilary Powell has spent the last year exploring the landscapes and narratives of Purfleet. She is preparing to present Ring Cycle - an audio visual symphony that transposes an epic cast of gods and mortals into this contemporary Thameside landscape.

The launch screening of Ring Cycle, with live score, takes place on Friday 14th July at 6.30pm at High House Production Park. It is presented as a prelude to the Big Screen relay of the opera Turandot organised by Royal Opera House Thurrock and the Backstage Centre.
Hilary Powell is the recipient of the Stephen Cripps' Studio Award, a major creative development opportunity based at High House Production Park and established in memory of the pyrotechnic sculptor Stephen Cripps' (1952-1982). Supported by The Henry Moore Foundation, High House Production Park Ltd and Stephen Cripp’s family it forms part of Acme’s Residency and Awards Programme. Ring Cycle is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

High above the surrounding rooftops, the enormous, purpose-built Production Workshop is home to scenic painters, carpenters and metalworkers. Here they make the designers' visions into reality, creating the many different sets that appear in the ballet and operas performed on the stages of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. The neighbouring Costume Centre will be home to more than 20,000 costumes from the current ROH repertory, as well as historic costumes, musical instruments and furniture from the archive collection. Set in the High House Production Park in Purfleet, amid beautifully landscaped gardens, the Production Workshop and Costume Centre are fascinating and inspiring places to discover the skills behind theatre and costume construction and design.
